Mary is literally the coolest woman to ever live. Not only did she become the perfect model for living for God by saying yes to His plan but she was also the closest person to Jesus. Although she was perfectly born without sin, Mary is a lot more like us than you may think. People shunned her and she felt alone too. Think about it- she was pregnant before getting married and promised that she was carrying the Son of God. Many people, including Joseph at first, didn’t believe her and yet she continued to do what God needed her to do. The same Mary laughed with Elizabeth and ate dinner with her friends. She partied at weddings and looked after her son even when he was a grown man. She’s human just like us, and she has a heart full of love. She wants to help us live for God! When we need help we can call up Mary to ask advice and take her hand so she can lead us to Christ. She can relate to our human experiences and be an example on how we can say yes to grow closer to Jesus. As our spiritual mother Mary wants to protect us and help us in any way. She takes our souls and unites them with her son. Mary is one of our most powerful bridges to Jesus when we feel lost.
Jesus loves His mother dearly and like any good son He listens to her. When we pray with Mary and ask her to pray for our intentions, we trust her to bring our prayers to Jesus. For example, praying the rosary is a great way to learn about Jesus through the mysteries and offer up our intentions. Wearing a scapular evokes the prayers of Mary while we go about our normal days. There are many ways we can ask for help in times of need; our Mother and her son are waiting with open arms!
A little tip: Sometimes it can be difficult to know what to say when talking to Mary because we are supposed to pray WITH her and not TO her. How are we supposed to know the difference? Try talking to her about what’s going on and then conclude with asking her to bring your life to Jesus. However, don’t forget to take some time to talk directly to Jesus… He’s dying to hear from you! Also, in times of trouble you can look at Mary’s life as an example of what to do. She lived completely for Christ and He’s taken care of her for all eternity. And the awesome part is, He has the same desire to take care of you too.
Even when you feel lost, you are never truly alone. Christ is holding your heart and Mary is praying for your soul. You are surrounded by pure love.
