Who Did Christ Come to Save?
In today’s society, everyone is focused about who. Who did this? Who did that? Who said what? Who is this for? Whose is that? One question I had for a while and now tend to hear from time to time is “Who did Christ come to save?” It seems like a simple question, but if you really think about it, you can go deeper than just the surface layer.
The easy simple answer is everyone. Christ came to save all of from all of our sins. He loved us so much that He even went so far as to die for it. He made the ultimate sacrifice to open the gates to heaven for us. But do we ever stop who specifically He did it for? Did He do it for the Sinners? Did He do it for the Righteous People? Did He do it for the Adults? Did He do it for the Children? Again, the simple answer is “Yes”. He did it for all those people, even the sinners. Jesus even tells us this. He said to the people who were about to stone a woman for her sins, “Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone”. He DIED for someone who broke and betrayed His commandments. Again, He says, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do”. He did it for the people who convicted His, the people who KILLED Him. Yes. He came to even them.
But it goes even further than just everyone back then. He came to save everyone NOW too and He came to save everyone that will come. In John chapter 1, line 42, it says, “He (Andrew) brought him (Simon) unto Jesus. Jesus looked upon him (Simon), and said, ‘Thou art Simon the son of John; thou shall be called Cephas (Peter [Rock])”. Just think about that for a minute. Simon / Peter and Jesus have never met before, and Jesus sees him and instantly knows him. I don’t know about you, but sometimes it takes me a while to remember people’s name that I went to school with for 9 years. Then here’s Jesus. He meets someone for the first time. Jesus already knows his name, who his father is, what he has done and what he will do, and Jesus even already has a nickname for him. He does this for all of us. When we are Baptized, Christ meets us and we meet Him. He didn’t just die for those people back then. He died for us. He died to save each and every one of us. He died for you. He died to save you.
He knows what will happen to us. He knows what we will do. He knows that he loves you no matter what and He will do whatever it takes to save you. But it’s not a one sided deal. It also takes you. You have to want it. You have to try. You have to be Christ-Like to others in everything that you do. Thank you for your time, and have a nice day. Talk to you soon!
